The legacy of plein-air painting in the context of museum storage on the example of the Museum of the Land of Biecz

Abstract

In the 1970s and 1980s of the 20th century, Biecz carried out numerous outdoor paintings and other artistic activities related to the popularization of art. As a result, the Regional Museum in Biecz gathered numerous works of art, which now constitute a fundamental part of its collection and are recorded in the inventory books. This raises the question of whether this state of affairs diminishes the museum’s esteem and distorts its legally defined classification system.
