Abstract
This article explores the works of Korean director Lee Chang-dong from a landscape studies perspective. It describes the urban and natural settings that create the backdrop for the characters and their stories. The films are analysed chronologically, offering a critical perspective on the author's view of his homeland's rapid economic, social, and political changes. These changes often leave the less fortunate or those who refuse to conform to societal pressures on the fringes of society
